ADDITIONAL PHOTO SESSIONS

All sessions listed above are shot by Nancy as primary photographer and include the high resolution, edited images through digital download. These shoots can be at location(s) of your choice and are anywhere from 2-4 hours, depending on your request. These are a great add-on to your wedding day photo package and make fabulous gifts for your significant other! Makeup and/or hair artist recommendations are available if requested.

+ ENGAGEMENT • $450

The engagement session, which is super fun by the way, can be added on to your Choose Your Own Adventure package or is a great option for those that are travelling for their wedding and not bringing along a professional wedding photographer. Engagement photos are great for so many reasons! The main reason would be to celebrate this super exciting time in your lives! Photos are also useful for guest books for the wedding, your wedding stationery suite, and just a great excuse to get all dolled up and cuddle together!

+ THE FAMILY * $450

A family photo session should not be something to dread. You know...the ones you end up with an overly posed picture in a position you would never naturally stand with your family? My approach when photographing a family is to meet them where they're naturally comfortable, in a cool space that allows them to feel adventurous or somewhere that really means something to them personally. My method is to keep as authentic as possible and let your awesomeness shine through!

+ MATERNITY • $450

Again, I like to keep this natural, fun and totally you! Location(s) of your choice and feel free to include your partner, children or fur babies!

+ ANNIVERSARY | TAKE 2 • $450

Basically, it's like an engagement session all over again..but not! We choose the location(s) based off the same idea, a place that is important to you or a place that you'd like to explore more of. A personal favourite - wear your wedding clothese all over again!

+ I'M AWESOME AND WANT PICTURES OF MYSELF • $450

I love this. And why shouldn't you want some kick-ass pictures of yourself?! These can be portraits needed for a headshot, you love your new haircut and dress, or just because you're eff'n awesome. Simple.

+ COMMERCIAL • PLEASE INQUIRE

Because each project requires it's own requirements, commercial photo shoots are priced job-by-job

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

+ WHEN SHOULD WE BOOK YOU FOR OUR WEDDING?

Immediately! For real though, any time before your wedding is the best time to book. Booking is based on a first-come first-serve basis. Keep in mind that next to sealing the deal with the ring, the venue and photographer are generally the first decisions couples make when planning a wedding. Booking well ahead of time (a year to a year and a half) assures that I am available for your date. Securing your wedding photography requires a signed contract and a non-refundable retainer. Of course, there's no set time limit on when you book! If you realize you forgot to book your photographer and your wedding is next weekend, and I'm available, bonus....but, I don't suggest it.

+ WHY SHOULD I BOOK YOU OVER THE OTHER PHOTOGRAPHER?

Because you love my work! And I'm fun! And my artistic character flows with how you'd like to remember your wedding day, family photos, or the party you threw for your mom's 60th. Photography is so incredible. You can literally relive the story with a visual reference and experience the emotions you felt as you walked down the aisle and saw your partner waiting for you at the finish line or the happy tears that ran down your cheek as your best friend reminds an entire room full of family and friends how incredible of a person you are. I love all the moments. The moments in between the poses. The real stuff. I take a lot of pictures of all of that.

+ WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT TO MY WEDDING?

Well, unless I'm dead or I am so sick that it should be illegal to be around other people, I'll be at your wedding. In the case that the previous occurs, which it won't, the Winnipeg Wedding Industry is like no other. We have each others backs and I can assure you that a suitable replacement will be there in my place.

+ DO YOU ACCEPT A "MUST HAVE" PHOTO LIST?

Yes and no. I do highly suggest, and will remind you, to provide me with a list of family photos for the groups that you would like photos with. Generally this takes place immediately following the ceremony. This takes away the element of failure in missing out on family photos, of course this can be added to and adjusted the day of. As for the other types of "must have" photos, this is a bit of a loaded question. I love to and encourage all of my clients input as to what they'd like to have done, but keep in mind that you are hiring me for my artistic eye and photography style, which is quite spontaneous and free-spirited. I will tell you that I do not "copy" pictures, but rather use them as inspiration. I'm a huge believer on keeping it AUTHENTICALLY BOLD which means I want you and your own personality to shine through, not a carbon copy of something that's already been done.

+ DO YOU HELP WITH TIMELINE AND LOCATION IDEAS?

Most certainly! I can give you some helpful tips that you may overlook when you're figuring out the schedule for the day. There is an "ideal" amount of time for photography, and I can give you some pointers! Same with locations. I've been to many of the popular places throughout the city, so if there's a place you see in a photo but don't know which alley it's down, I can probably tell you, and we can go there! I also love to explore places that aren't regularly photographed on a wedding day. It gives you a unique experience with your photos. Once you book and you are supplied with the top secret password to the Client Headquarters section of the website, you will find visual examples of a bunch of places in Winnipeg I've shot at, a list of places with contacts and some with rates, and also a list of places that I would love to shoot at and will maybe fit with your vibe!

+ WHY IS THE ENGAGEMENT SESSION COMPLEMENTARY?

Think of the engagement session as a rehearsal. We will be spending a ton of time together, and it's a great opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera, you see how I work, and how we work together. I promise you that engagement sessions are a ton of fun! I really like to hang out with a couple, catch their cute moments together and make some great photos as a bonus! You will get a ton of pictures of you guys that you can use for a guest book or to incorporate into some of the design features at your wedding. Also makes a great profile and cover photo on the Facebook before your wedding photos!

+ HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY PHOTOS BACK?

During high wedding season (May-October) it usually takes around 6-8 weeks, but of course do my best to get them to you as soon as possible! November-April is generally 3-4 weeks.

+ WHAT DO YOUR PACKAGES INCLUDE? DO WE GET THE FILES?

Check out the INVESTMENT page to see details of each package. There's also the option to build your own dream wedding package with the Choose Your Own Adventure option. Yes, all packages include high resolution edited files for personal use.

+ HOW DOES THE PRINT CREDIT WORK?

After your wedding and after you have your awesome photos back in your hot hands, you'll want to show them off! Some of the packages include a magazine or a canvas print. You are able to add pages to your magazine or increase the size of the canvas from what is included. You can also use this credit for prints or towards an album. If you're unsure of what you'd like, we can always meet up and you can check out the samples that I have of each product.

+ WOULD YOU TRAVEL TO PHOTOGRAPH US?

You betcha! I love getting out of the city, whether that means heading to Hawaii or New York or to the family cabin an hour from Winnipeg. I have a cabin just past Lac Du Bonnet, Mb and would love to shoot some more out there!

FREQUENTLY UNASKED QUESTIONS

+ WHAT DOES KIEX MEAN AND HOW DO YOU SAY IT?

KEY-EX. Kiex is a mixture of our cats names! Kiwi and Dexter!

+ HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PHOTOGRAPHER?

For about, ever. I was raised by two photographers. It's literally all that I know, to never leave the house without a camera and that it's okay to take over closet space in the house for slides, prints and albums. I remember the first time I actually fell in love with photography. My dad would turn our laundry room into a dark room...I thought that was the most magical place, in that warm, red light. This was the time when he was doing a lot of portrait work for the Northern Manitoba Communities. I was up on my tippy toes peaking over the edge of the developer tank, and I saw a face with a ton of wrinkles magically appear on the page under the solution. I. Was. Hooked. On road trips, we'd stop a million times so one of my parents could snap a shot of the scenery. I could go on and on with how many I memories I have growing up and throughout my life that involved photography one way or another. And I could go on and on why I'm so passionate about it. I've been a photographer for about ever.

+ WHAT DO YOU THINK OF AN "UNPLUGGED" CEREMONY?

For those that aren't aware of this newer coined term, "Unplugged" weddings mean there are no cameras or video recording allowed other than the hired professionals during the ceremony. The idea is that Uncle Bob might step into the middle of the aisle while you're walking down it, and get in the way of my shot. The one you're paying big bucks to be there to get these moments. The other idea is that there is a want for guests to be present at the ceremony rather than watching it through a screen on their phone or iPad. I get it. I also get how important a photograph is. I'm not going to ever shame your guests if they happen to step in my way..I just try to use it to my advantage and get creative with it. Think about what makes most sense to you and forget about the trend! I aim to capture your day as authentically as possible, and that's what you want to base your decision off of when considering a photographer. Their style, their approach, personality and their mentality behind what creates great photographs.

+ WHAT'S THIS "FIRST LOOK" BUSINESS?

Another newer term coined within the wedding industry. The First Look is when the couple sees each other for the first time of the day, before the ceremony, and usually somewhere separate from everyone else. Of course, this is captured on camera. A first look gives us the opportunity to get to the creative portraits before the ceremony. This is especially helpful when your ceremony and reception is at the same location and back to back, maybe with a cocktail hour in between. I assure you that a first look does not at all ruin any experience of walking down the aisle and seeing your partner on the other end. If anything, it helps calm any possible nerves. I also love the idea of creating a really unique way to see each other for the first time - take off each others blindfolds, coming from around a corner, etc.

+ WHAT TYPE OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

Straight up Nikon. You can ask me for details of what cameras, lens and accessories if you really are interested!

+ DO WE HAVE TO FEED YOU DINNER?

If I'm there over dinner, it would be so kind of you to feed me and my second shooter. You can place us where ever you like within the reception area, as long as we can see/hear what's going on. We take the best pictures when we have food.

+ DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?

I sure do.

+ WHY DO YOU USE A SECOND SHOOTER?

Second shooters are a wonderful compliment to the day. They will be the one that starts off with the guys, if you are including your getting ready photos within your day (which I highly recommend) and then they are there with me for the remainder of the day, assisting, getting the scene from a different angle and we often play double duty during the creative portrait time, meaning they might be with the group of guys while I'm photographing the bridesmaids, then we may switch off. It gives you a second set of eyes on the day so it's positive that nothing will get missed!

+ WHY IS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY SO EXPENSIVE?

Well, for the average priced wedding photographer, it's really not all that expensive once you factor it all in. You may only see us during a couple cups of coffee or a beer before the wedding, a couple of hours for your engagement pictures and then on the wedding day, but I assure you, there's a lot more that goes on behind the scenes. I went to art school, I practiced my craft over many years, built up my photography equipment, kept my computers up to date with the latest software, programs, blog, websites, and online hosting galleries. I also spend hours after the wedding uploading the files so they're safe and sound on a couple servers, sort through them to choose the best ones, then sort through again to find the best of the best. Edit each of them one-by-one, export them and back them up another two times. Send along a link to you fine people, and go through them all again to pull out my favourites to post them to the blog. From there, there's the prints, albums and the ever cool, magazines to be designed, printed and delivered. There's all of this, and then there's the photography workshops, the sample albums, social media management and website updates as well as a few other things I must have forgotten. And, I wouldn't change it for the world.

+ WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE THING TO PHOTOGRAPH?

To be honest...people. I love photographing people. Especially in cool places, with amazing lighting and ultra creative ideas. Some might call it a challenge to capture the true essence of someone in a photograph, but I seem to naturally make this happen. And I love that. As for my favourite part of a wedding day, I'd have to say the creative portrait time with you and your wedding party is the time when I can get really creative and get some great shots in great settings. I do love looking back through the full day of images once I get home and see the story retell itself with all of the details and epic shots of you.

+ WHERE ARE YOUR DREAM PLACES TO PHOTOGRAPH BOTH IN WINNIPEG AND OUTSIDE OF WINNIPEG?

I love to hit up places that aren't the norm for wedding photography. Of course I will shoot just about anywhere you'd like me to shoot on your wedding day, but I love to get inspired with new surroundings and create images for you that are like no other. I also LOVE cabin country. As I mentioned above, but I'll mention again in case you skipped it, I have a cottage up past Lac Du Bonnet and I'm pretty familiar with the area. I also have my own magical hidden treasures that I would love to photograph more of! And like most, I enjoy getting outside of Manitoba all together. I dig warm, tropical places with different vegetation than we're used to and gorgeous sunsets over the ocean. I also enjoy the vast difference of scenery from coast to coast that Canada has to offer and aim to shoot in as many provinces as I can! Then there's New York...Greece...The Maldives...Figi....Hawaii..Mexico....
